1 Measure your mold

Cylindrical container? Use Diameter/Height. Irregular shape? Use Water weight.

2 Choose your wax
ⓘWith "Wax blend" you can mix 2-3 different waxes by percentage. If the total isn't exactly 100%, the calculation still adjusts proportionally — the total is just a visual guide.
3 Set the fragrance
ⓘThe percentage of fragrance relative to the total wax+fragrance weight. Staying within your specific fragrance supplier's limit matters for safety — with Premium you can check this in the "Fragrance compliance" card.

⚠️Before selling a candle, always do a full test burn with the chosen wick: check for excessive smoke, too-high a flame, or the container overheating.
Rough estimate — always verify with a real test burn.

One Container, One Complete Recipe

Every page on Faluma's calculator uses the same underlying engine — this page simply shows you everything that engine calculates at once, instead of focusing on a single variable.

Take the reference example used across this site: a 7.5 cm × 9 cm container filled with soy wax at an 8% fragrance load. In one calculation, this container's dimensions turn into a total blend of 386.5 g (355.6 g of wax and 30.9 g of fragrance oil), a CD-10 wick (or ECO-2 / HTP 1412 / size M, depending on which wick brand you use), an estimated burn time of about 68 hours, and roughly 14 days of cure time for soy wax. Using Faluma's default example prices (wax at €8/kg, fragrance at €4 per 10 g, container at €1.50), the materials come to about €16.71, or €20.46 once 15 minutes of labor at €15/hour is added.

The result brings the key recipe figures together in one place. Change the wax type, the fragrance percentage, or the container size, and the calculated quantities update together — you don't have to calculate wax separately from fragrance, cost, or cure time.

How Long Should You Cure Different Waxes?

Cure time is the resting period between pouring a candle and burning it. The recommended time can vary by wax type and by the specific wax formulation you use. Faluma's default cure times are 14 days for soy wax, 7 days for palm wax, 5 days for coconut wax, 3 days for beeswax, and 1 day for paraffin.

These are starting points rather than fixed rules. Your wax supplier may recommend a different curing period, and some formulations may benefit from additional testing before you commit to a full production batch. The calculator lets you see the default cure time associated with the wax type you select, so it becomes part of the recipe rather than something you have to remember separately.

Which Calculator Do You Need?

This page already includes wax, fragrance, wick, cost, and cure time — the same calculator every other page on this site uses. If you're starting a recipe from scratch, or just want the full picture at once, this is the right page.

If you've already got a recipe going and want to go deeper on one specific number, these pages focus on a single variable in more detail: the Candle Wax Calculator for how container size and wax density affect the calculated wax quantity, the Fragrance Load Calculator for fragrance percentage and IFRA safety guidance, and the Candle Cost Calculator for a full materials-versus-production cost breakdown. They use the same underlying calculations, but explain each topic separately rather than combining everything into one recipe view.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need the other calculators too, or is this one enough?

This page already runs the complete calculation — wax, fragrance, wick, cost, and cure time together. The three specific calculators exist for when you want to focus on and fine-tune just one of those numbers in more depth, not because this page is missing anything.

Does this work for pillar or votive candles, not just jar candles?

Yes. For cylindrical containers or molds, the calculator can work from diameter and height. For irregular shapes, you can use the water-displacement measurement option to determine the container's volume. The resulting volume is then used by the calculator to determine the recipe quantities.

What if I don't know my ingredient prices yet?

Leave the price fields blank and the calculator still gives you the calculated wax, fragrance, wick, and burn-time figures. Only the cost section needs your wax and fragrance prices to calculate. Add your real prices whenever you have them.

Is the calculator free to use?

Yes, the core calculator is free with no sign-up required. Saved recipes, PDF export, batch scaling, and the other Premium tools are optional, for candle makers managing a full product line rather than a single recipe.
