This Privacy Policy explains how Candle Calculator ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and services at candle-calculator-app.vercel.app.
Who we are
Candle Calculator is an independent project based in Malta, part of the Faluma Candles project. For any privacy question, contact us at falumacandles@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Account information: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google to create your account.
- Recipe data: if you save candle recipes, we store the recipe details you enter (mold size, wax type, fragrance load, etc.) linked to your account.
- Subscription status: if you subscribe to Premium, our payment processor Stripe handles your payment details directly — we never see or store your card number. We only keep a subscription status (active/inactive) and a Stripe customer reference.
- Recipe PDF by email: if you choose to receive a free PDF preview of your recipe by email, we store the email address you provide, the language of the site at that time, the recipe values shown on the PDF at that moment, and the date and time you gave consent — only if you tick the consent checkbox. This is separate from an account and does not require signing in.
- Preferences: language and unit settings are stored locally in your browser.
- Usage data: basic technical data needed to operate the site may be processed when you use the service.
- Optional product analytics: only if you accept analytics, we create a browser identifier and record product-usage events (such as starting the calculator, viewing results or Premium, and clicking Premium calls to action), general device type, site language, measurement method, Premium status and country. If you arrive through a tagged campaign, and only after you accept analytics, we may also store the campaign parameters utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign for a limited attribution window so we can understand which campaigns lead to product use. If you are signed in, analytics events may also include your account user ID. We do not use analytics to make the calculator work.
How we use your information
- To provide and operate the calculator and your account (recipes, Premium features).
- To process your Premium subscription and payments.
- To send you the recipe PDF you requested, and, only if you consented, occasional emails about Faluma Candles (e.g. product updates, tips). You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To respond to support requests sent to our contact email.
- To maintain and improve the service.
- With your consent, to understand how Faluma is used and improve the product. You can refuse or withdraw this optional analytics consent without losing access to the calculator.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that make the app work, and never sell your data:
- Google — for sign-in (authentication).
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider, which stores your account, recipe and email preference data and, if you consent to analytics, product-analytics events.
- Vercel — our hosting provider; optional Vercel Web Analytics is loaded only after you accept analytics.
- Stripe — our payment processor, which handles Premium subscription billing.
- Resend — our email delivery provider, used to send transactional emails such as the recipe PDF and account notifications.
Advertising
We may show ads served by Google AdSense to support the free version of the tool. If and when ads are enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can control ad personalization in your Google Ad Settings. This policy will be updated when advertising is activated.
Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies/local storage to keep you signed in, remember functional preferences and drafts, complete login/payment redirects, remember whether you have already been offered the recipe PDF, and remember your analytics choice. These functional items remain available even if you reject analytics. Optional analytics storage, including the browser analytics identifier, is created or used only after you accept analytics. You can change your choice at any time through “Privacy preferences” in the site footer.
Data retention
We keep your account and recipe data for as long as your account is active. If you provide your email to receive a recipe PDF, we keep that email (and your consent record) until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Optional analytics data is kept only for as long as needed for product measurement. A fixed automatic deletion schedule is not yet active; we are defining a retention limit and you can request deletion at any time. You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us.
Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA, under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing — including withdrawing consent to optional analytics or to receive emails at any time, free of charge. To exercise any of these rights, email falumacandles@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Malta, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner, idpc.org.mt).
Children
Candle Calculator is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
